An uplifting tail: Irvine’s ‘Third Chance for Pets’ program welcomes 10,000th animal

Irvine Animal Care Center officials and volunteers celebrated a milestone recently when the center welcomed its 10,000th animal rescued through the “Third Chance for Pets” program. Established in 1999, the program – made possible through donations from residents and organizations – transfers adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded or underfunded shelters throughout California to animal care centers such as Irvine’s, where they remain until they are placed in “forever” homes.
